ApresentaçãoPresentationProject V (PV) focuses on project methodologies, considering the project different phases: analysis of existing situation and surroundings (pre-existence or batch context); ability to propose a suitable program; proposal development (architectural design) at base project level; and detailed project (constructive details). The motto for the 3rd year of Project is based on the theme of Flexibility and Ecology, considering the constant changes and dynamics in the current way of life and the adaptations of the individual to the space that surrounds him, typical of contemporary cities. The exercises to be carried out during the semester and academic year, are based on different urban contexts in the city of Portimão (historic area, housing area; riverside area) and different programs (multifunctional module; collective housing; cultural equipment), which allows to work at different scales, typologies and city contexts. At PV will be developed exercises 1 and 2.
-
ProgramaProgrammeExercise 1 consists on designing a multifunctional mobile module, with a free and flexible program, in an urban area to be defined by the student, which arises from the analysis and interpretation of the place made by each student. It is proposed that the module integrates a quality public space (garden, square, riverside area). Exercise 2 consists on designing a project for a collective housing building in an urban context, with at least a fraction of each type from T0 to T5, in a lot to be defined from the study of the urban context. The projects are developed from the approach at different scales: Urban Design; Base Project and Detail Project.

ObjectivosObjectivesLearning objectives are: Develop the ability to design in different contexts, with different programs and at different scales of intervention. Understand the importance of the role of architecture in society in the various spectra: social, economic, cultural, environmental and in the quality of life of citizens, both in the context of inhabiting the private space -the house-, as well as in the context of inhabiting the public space or collective, which encompasses the most varied programs. Understand the capacity of architecture to function as a regenerating element of the urban fabric and to solve problems in society and the in the city.

MetodologiaMethodologyTeaching methodology consists of the elaboration of 2 exercises from which syllabus contents are approached. An interdisciplinary approach is developed to monitor the work but using arqchitectureinstruments. Work is organized in 3 phases: 1 Analysis of the environment, basic concept (esc 1:500): sketches; study diagrams (geometrization;volumetry; uses of spaces); Photos; model of the surroundings. 2 Study and evolution of the proposal/ Preliminary Study (esc 1:200): proposal drawings; referenceimages; study model. 3 Project and final elements (esc 1:100): technical drawing (plans, sections, elevations, construction details); 3d visualization; model; descriptive memory. Continuous assessment consists of: elements presentation (graphics, written description); public criticaldiscussion of the proposal; attendance; student individual development; and on Workshops participation. It is a minimum condition that the student has a positive evaluation and developed the exercises satisfactorily.
