ApresentaçãoPresentationThe course unit is situated within the field of artistic and pedagogical practices, with an emphasis on experimentation, production, and critical reflection in the visual arts. Its area of activity focuses on the development of expressive, technical, and conceptual processes, articulating different artistic languages with formal educational contexts. The domains of intervention include artistic creation, practice-based research, the didactic approach to visual arts, and the integration of active methodologies in teaching. The course unit proves to be particularly relevant within the study cycle, as it contributes to the consolidation of artistic, pedagogical, and reflective competences essential to the education of Visual Arts teachers, promoting an informed, creative, and contextualized teaching practice.

ProgramaProgramme1. Definitions and functions of artistic expression: communication, thought, subjectivity, invention; 2. Dimensions of visual language: morphosyntactic, technical, productive, expressive; 3. Traditional drawing and the expanded field: shadow photography, collage, experimental animation; 4. The body in motion and sensory experience: creating through the five senses; 5. Atlases, archives, and constellations: pathways and strategies for artistic research and creation; 6. Introduction to the artist’s notebook and other forms of visual and sensory documentation as reflective and pedagogical practice.

ObjectivosObjectivesBy the end of this course unit, students should be able to: 1. Explore contemporary visual arts languages, methods, and techniques; 2. Investigate and experiment with interdisciplinary artistic processes combining analogue and digital media; 3. Understand artistic expression as a tool for thinking, communication, invention, and personal expression; 4. Develop authorial project skills grounded in sensory and contextual experiences; 5. Apply these competencies in educational settings, adapting them to the cognitive development of learners at different educational levels.
