Biomechanics

Sports Sciences
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
Biomechanics is a scientific area that seeks to measure, explain, equate, and model the patterns of the human movement. The Program of the Course, guides students to the development of skills that allow the understanding of the bases of this movement. The data from the biomechanical quantitative analysis allow the comparison between subjects or the evaluation of the individual development process. The analysis of the movement of the segments as a function of time and space, the analysis of the forces acting on the musculoskeletal system and the internal forces of the system, allow the student to study human movement with the objective ofoptimizing motor action / sports technique, prevention of sports injuries, motor rehabilitation after injury, and ergonomics. This CU, integrating knowledge with others CUs in the study plan, is thus significant in the knowledge to be acquired by students at the end of the degree.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
ME1 - Direct Education - expository method - presentation of the syllabus associated with practical examples of the human and sports movement. ME2 - Indirect Education - case study and problem-based learning - application and integration of the syllabus to the quantitative and qualitative analysis of human and sports movements. ME3 - Use of the Moodle Platform - documents to support the study, tasks definition, communication about works, and assessment methodology. ME4 - Use of open-source software for quantitative analysis of human and sports movement (Kinovea, Dartfish, ...).   Assessment methodology: A) Evaluation Tests - 1st Test, weighting 30% of the final grade; - 2nd Teste, weighting 40% of the final grade. B) Group work - Works in groups of 2 students, weighting of 20% of the final grade.
