ApresentaçãoPresentationThis course introduces you to the basics of any digital system, from the simplest digital circuit to the most complex computer. The content of the current course unit is the basis for Computer Architecture and Organization.
-
ProgramaProgrammeS1. Basic Logic Circuits S2. Boole's algebra S3. Number systems S4. Logic functions S5. Combinatorial circuits S6. Digital circuits with memory
-
ObjectivosObjectivesLO1: Understanding Numbering Systems and Codes, binary codes and binary arithmetic. LO2: Understanding Boole's Algebra, its axioms and theorems, and its relevance to the design of digital systems. Description of the behavior of basic logic gate functions (AND, OR, NOT). LO3: Understanding and applying digital design methodologies and CAD tools for the synthesis of combinational and sequential digital circuits. LO4: Use standard blocks of combinational and sequential logic, e.g. adders, decoders, registers, counters, etc. LO5: Understanding how to design larger circuits through the integration of small integrated circuits and / or programmable logic devices. LO6: Learning about the capabilities and advantages of hardware programming languages and synthesis tools in the design of digital circuits of varying size and complexity.
