Drawing II

Fashion and Textile Design and Production
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
The Drawing II Curricular Unit deepens the mastery of artistic drawing, focusing on the representation of the female and male human body and differentiating the classical canon from the fashion canon. It covers the schematic drawing of the human figure for fashion, integrating it with illustrative practices. Essential in the study cycle, it complements the knowledge of Drawing I, developing fundamental graphic skills. At the end, students must represent the body in movement, considering scale, proportion, volume, shadows, fabric drape, textures and patterns. The program includes materials such as markers and colored pencils, as well as mixed techniques, applying schematic drawing and illustration of ideas to fashion design.
  • ProgramaProgramme
Introduction to Fashion Design – Differences between the classical canon and the fashion canon. Drawing the Human Body in Motion – Structure, proportion, scale and volume of the female and male body, postures, balance, gestures and suggestion of dynamism. Draping of Fabrics and Textures, Shading and Depth – Representation of different materials, transparencies and patterns, own and projected shadows, contrast and modeling of volume. Schematic Design Applied to Fashion – Simplification of form and adaptation to fashion design. Illustration of Ideas – Graphic expression in the communication of concepts and collections. Techniques and Materials – Use of colored pencils, markers and mixed techniques for finishing and detailing.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
The Drawing II Curricular Unit aims to deepen the mastery of artistic drawing of the male and female human body, distinguishing the classical canon from the fashion canon. Students will develop knowledge of proportion, scale, volume, shadows and anatomical rigor, applying them to schematic drawing for fashion and illustrative practices. As for skills, they are expected to master the graphic media worked on in Drawing I, improving the representation of the body in movement, drape of fabrics, textures and patterns. As for skills, students will be able to use artistic observational drawing, schematic drawing applied to fashion and the illustration of ideas to enrich their creations in fashion design, using various materials, such as markers and colored pencils.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
The Drawing II Curricular Unit adopts active methodologies to enhance learning. The inclusion of collaborative practices and interdisciplinary projects connects fashion design to other creative areas, broadening the vision of the artistic process. Project-based learning allows students to develop practical skills, working from the conception to the execution of illustrations applied to fashion, bringing them closer to the professional environment. In addition, the use of video tutorials enriches access to knowledge, allowing students to explore different techniques at their own pace. Group graphic challenges and experimentation with diverse materials stimulate creativity and technical improvement, ensuring dynamic and immersive learning.
