    The curricular unit Data Ethics and Security belongs to the scientific area of Data Science and addresses the ethical, legal and technological principles associated with the collection, storage, processing and use of data. It develops skills to identify risks, promote the responsible use of data and apply good practices in information security and data protection across different organizational contexts.

  • ObjectivosObjectives
    This curricular unit aims to provide students with an understanding of the security practices and mechanisms that protect data. It is necessary to ensure the protection of data, personal or cooperative, in accordance with European regulations in force. To this end, students should be able to: LO1: Understand the basics of computer security. LO2: Provide students with ethical values in the light of data privacy and security and the mechanisms that support it. LO3: Adjust Security mechanisms in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
    The teaching methodology includes the expository method (ME1) to present the necessary contents, the demonstrative (ME2) to illustrate its application to practical cases and the active (ME3) for solving exercises in the classroom, with and without recourse to the computer. Case studies and the analysis of real-world scenarios are used to promote critical reflection on ethical and data security challenges.
