    The Fashion Design Lab II course is essential for students studying Fashion and Textile Design and Production to deepen and develop their previous knowledge of patternmaking, cutting and dsewing. Pattern-making and sweing are essential to put into practice what the student theorises and conceptualises. For this very reason, various techniques are covered in the course, and in this last semester, taking into account the logic of constructing products aimed at designer design and the different materials used. This course not only allows students to learn and develop their technical skills, but also to enhance their self-analysing and critical skills with regard to the quality of the product they are developing, giving them greater autonomy as future professionals.

    The semester will be divided into fashion product development: 1) Proto development and production of 5 final pieces alluding to the collection developed in Fashion Design Lab I. - a. Rectify overcoat patterns and production of final garment; - b. Development of patterns, prototypes fittings and final pieces for another 4 different garments; - c. Development of 4 tech packs with 4 different technical sheets. Identification and order will be as follows: 1) model's technical sheet; 2) list of patterns; 3) photos and comments from the fitting session and 4) garmenrs measurements table (patterns and final garment). 2) Development of 3 final jewellery products:  - a. Technical Sheet plus one product - student's choice: Technical Sheet: Technical Description,Technical Drawing (front, back and profile views) of the product plus Measurements; - b. 3 final pieces - two pieces based on the two prototypes developed in the 1st semester plus one from scratch;
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    The aims of the course are to provide students with skills related to: 1) Making adaptations and transformations to basic patterns following the design proposed by the student; 2) Deepening, consolidating and providing students with advanced notions of patternmaking, cutting and sewing techniques; 3) Developing fashion accessories in a jewellery context; 4) To consolidate the process of analysis and final control of the products developed: preparation of the necessary documentation for the production of pieces and their industrialisation.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
    The curricular unit will be developed through theoretical-practical, expository and demonstrative sessions, and practical work of an experimental nature developed during class sessions. A participatory approach will be encouraged, facilitating the assimilation of content and fostering teacher/student interaction, searching a more for more autonomous student throughout the semester. Tutorial teaching, as an active method, will be fundamentally used to accompany the practical exercises carried out.
