Materials, Colours and Processes
Fashion and Textile Design and Production
-
ApresentaçãoPresentationThis curricular unit focuses on textile raw materials, specifically addressing fibres and textiles (woven and knitted fabrics), as well as trims and other materials used in garment construction. It also covers the fashion industry and sourcing. Its focus on the fields of textile materials and the industry makes this course unit highly relevant, as it is here that students will acquire knowledge about the materials used in clothing. Since textiles (woven and knitted fabrics) are the main component of clothing, it is crucial to understand how and where they can be used. An overview of the industry-including its operations, equipment, and processes will complement students' understanding of the process, from fibre selection to the final product. The course will also cover new materials within the field of biomaterials, as well as their potential applications and added value. Colour as an element of design and fashion is also approached.
