Modelling and Confection Workshop I
Fashion and Textile Design and Production
-
ApresentaçãoPresentationPattern and Sewing atelier I favours a practical approach complemented by the theory transmitted during the lessons. The course focuses on the importance of these two sectors. It provides an approach geared towards Portuguese ITV, focusing mainly on flat pattern-making and the general and fundamental knowledge of sewing in constructing simple garments. Given the course's interdisciplinary nature with other curricular units, students can understand the working logic of the fashion designer and the importance of the more practical areas for garment design, understanding the workflow from the conceptualisation of the idea to the final product. This knowledge, although initial, will be crucial and fostered throughout the degree programme.

MetodologiaMethodologyThe curricular unit will be developed through theoretical-practical, expository and demonstrative sessions, and practical work of an experimental nature developed during class sessions. The expositive and demonstrative methods allow for rapid assimilation of the basic concepts, fundamental principles and areas of application of theoretical knowledge associated with practice. A participatory approach will be encouraged, facilitating the assimilation of content and fostering teacher/student interaction. Tutorial teaching, as an active method, will be fundamentally used to accompany the practical exercises carried out throughout the course.
