Modelling and Confection Workshop II
Fashion and Textile Design and Production
-
ApresentaçãoPresentationThe curricular unit Modelling and Confection Workshop II is a fundamental unit for the student of Fashion and Textile Design and Production. The domains of pattern making and sewing are essential to put into practice what the student theorizes and conceptualizes. For this reason, several patterns and sewing techniques are covered in this unit. Allowing the students to have support and to the development of their technical capacities. These capacities coincide with several practical exercises regarding the creation and development of draping pattern extraction, perception of measures and wearability of garments, construction of base patterns and, exercises of garment dart manipulations.
-
ProgramaProgramme1) Development of two-dimensional patterns: step-by-step skirts (A-line and Circular) and, top with darts; 2) Dart manipulation on symmetric and asymmetric patterns (SlashSpread technique); 3) Library of clothing details (patternmaking and manufacturing); 4) Draping: development of a dress (extracting patterns, cutting and sewing); - Development of the dress front and back sketch; - Technical details and graphic representation of seams; - Fabric manipulation in the manequin; - Extraction and development of patterns and its calibration; - Cutting and making the garment. 5) Interdisciplinary project (colection): pattern tranformation, extration cut and sewing top components.
-
ObjectivosObjectives1. Deepening of the draping technique: development of a dress, extraction of patterns and manufacture of the garment in raw cloth; 2. Know standard measures systems, measures of wearability and reference points on the human body for future measurements; 3. Know the process of garment and details pattern making. Interpretation and graphic development of sewing diagrams; 4. Projection of two-dimensional patterns: top; 5. Know the process of the manufacture of garments: top.

MetodologiaMethodologyThe curricular unit will be developed through theoretical-practical, expository and demonstrative sessions, and practical work of an experimental nature developed during class sessions. A participatory approach will be encouraged, facilitating the assimilation of content and fostering teacher/student interaction. Tutorial teaching, as an active method, will be fundamentally used to accompany the practical exercises carried out throughout the course.
