    Atelier de Modelagem e Confeção IV is a fundamental curricular unit for students of Fashion and Textile Design and Production. The areas of pattern-making and sewing are essential to put into practice what the student theorises and conceptualises in any type of clothing product and project. For this very reason, various pattern-making and sewing techniques are covered in this unit, allowing students to learn and develop their technical skills. These skills include: developing pattern bases based on a step-by-step exercises, and developing pattern transformations based on previous knowledge coming from the production of mock-ups of details, sketches and/or technical sheets.

    1) Development of base patterns of classic women's and men's trousers; 2) Develop base patterns of a classic women's shirt; 3) Pattern making and sewing of details; 4) Transformation of basic trouser patterns development of prototyping and fitting. Pattern corrections, extraction and addition of seam allowance, as well as, all the information needed for planning and cutting; 5) Cut and sew a pair of trousers for corporate clothing;  
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    Pattern making and sewing are fundamental fields in the development of clothing products and fashion collections. The UC's objectives are to provide students with competencies related to: - Making base patterns for further adaptations and transformations based on propose designs; - Developing prototypes; - Knowing techniques and directing pattern making and sewing solutions for corporate clothing: processes, opportunities and challenges. - Grading techniques: woman and man trousers.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
    The curricular unit will be developed through theoretical-practical, expository and demonstrative sessions, and practical work of an experimental nature developed during class sessions. A participatory approach will be encouraged, facilitating the assimilation of content and fostering teacher/student interaction. Tutorial teaching, as an active method, will be fundamentally used to accompany the practical exercises carried out throughout the course.
