    The curricular unit of Project Work / Dissertation is unique and indivisible, and the Dissertation consists of the Project itself, a written / argumentative part and the respective drawings, or, as an option, the candidate can choose a theoretical dissertation, relating to the discipline of architecture, in both cases accompanied by the respective Project teachers in partnership with the respective Thesis' Advisor. The objective of this UC (curricular unit) is to guide and support the student in the elaboration of the Thesis for the Integrated Master in Architecture, seeking to clarify and strengthen their knowledge of the research by design methodology, while preparing the candidate for the dissertation's final defense. The UC is developed according to a tutorial practice, supported by lectures and specific exercises.

    Research Methodology. .Consolidate the methodologies of a Project research process, associated with a parallel theoretical foundation. .Combine the individual project development criteria with the defined research objectives. .Promote a theoretical analysis that includes the various steps of the Project process, within the chosen scientific area. Conclusions to be reached. .Indicate a solution to a problem category and generate new knowledge. .Show how existing knowledge can apply to new projects. .Establish a critical confrontation with the state of the art. Public Discution. ..Present an Integrated Master's Dissertation, which is an expression of the achievement of the objectives and skills described above, as well as the proficiency of the new architect.

    Ability to define, organize and develop the formalization of a critical reflection within the architectural project, with a unique thematic program, inserted in a physical and cultural context. Consolidation of methodologies through the Project. Consolidation of methodologies and procedural criteria of professional practice.

    The UC is a theoretical-practical subject. In this sense, in parallel to the personalized monitoring of the development of the research work, from its beginning until its presentation, there is a theoretical teaching practice, where specific themes are addressed to the development of the Thesis, in parallel with some of the universal themes in architectural research.
