ApresentaçãoPresentationThe curricular unit of Project Work / Dissertation is unique and indivisible, and the Dissertation consists of the Project itself, a written / argumentative part and the respective drawings, or, as an option, the candidate can choose a theoretical dissertation, relating to the discipline of architecture, in both cases accompanied by the respective Project teachers in partnership with the respective Thesis' Advisor. The objective of this UC (curricular unit) is to guide and support the student in the elaboration of the Thesis for the Integrated Master in Architecture, seeking to clarify and strengthen their knowledge of the research by design methodology, while preparing the candidate for the dissertation's final defense. The UC is developed according to a tutorial practice, supported by lectures and specific exercises.

ProgramaProgrammeS1: Research Methodology. Consolidate the methodologies of a research process in a Project, associated with a parallel theoretical foundation. Combine the specific criteria for the development of the individual project with the defined research objectives. Enhance a theoretical analysis that includes the various steps of the Project process, within the scope of the chosen scientific area. S2: Argumentation. Indicate a solution to a category of problems and generate new knowledge. Demonstrate how existing knowledge can be applied to new projects. Establish a critical confrontation with the State of the Art. S3: Public Defense. Present an Integrated Master's Dissertation that expresses the achievement of the objectives and competencies described above, as well as the proficiency of the new architect. .

ObjectivosObjectivesBy the end of the semester, students should achieve the following learning objectives: O1: Ability to define, organize, and develop a project formalizing a critical reflection, with a unique thematic program, embedded in a physical and cultural context. O2: Mastery of research methodologies through the Project. O3: Consolidation of the methodologies and procedural criteria of professional practice.
