    The Architectural Design Studio IX curricular unit continues the second cycle of the Integrated Master's degree, focusing on the structural element of an architect's education: the design process. Operating under a hands-on, learning-by-doing methodology, this course represents the third stage of dissertation development, guiding students toward completing their master's degree. Building upon the coursework from Design Studios VII and VIII, students will develop their architectural proposals based on the progression of their Dissertation Plan. This presupposes that students master the architectural project as a tangible "object" through a research-backed design process. Furthermore, it requires them to internalize the advanced knowledge, conceptual ideas, and methodologies necessary to elevate their practice to the level of erudition and quality expected of a Master of Architecture.

    1 - From city to building: the design process of transforming a site through local, targeted intervention. 2 - Analytical and critical re-reading of the site's socio-cultural ways of living. 3 - Urban public space as the organizing structure of a site; the built environment as a regulator of public space. 4 - The program and its materialization as a strategic element in site enhancement interventions. 5 - Architectural response: the study of spatial structure and composition, spanning from the urban dimension to the scale of the built environment. 6 - Object of study: an architectural or built piece, selected from the coursework developed during the first year of the second cycle of the Master's degree in Architecture.

    THEORETICAL COMPONENT Formulation and contextualization of a design theory and methodology, formalized within the Dissertation Plan. Continuous development of a methodological framework for architectural design supported by research. PRACTICAL COMPONENT Equipping students with the ability to justify, contextualize, and interpret proposed actions within the conceptual and investigative domains. Enhancing the ability to formulate concepts and develop architectural projects through a continuous process of critical reasoning. Cultivating an architectural mindset that provides proficiency in navigating the complex and contradictory nature of the discipline. Consolidating the mastery of a designer-researcher methodology.

    Architectural Design Studio IX is a theoretical-practical course aligned with the principles of Design Thinking in architecture. It adopts a user-centered, iterative, and collaborative project approach, utilizing architectural design methodologies to address complex spatial problems creatively and innovatively. Alongside personalized tutoring from project inception to final presentation, the course incorporates theoretical lectures addressing specific assignment themes and universal architectural topics. Student attendance and active participation are highly critical. Ultimately, the student's ability to synthesize directly applicable practical knowledge with foundational architectural concepts constitutes the core substance of architectural design.
