    Curricular Unit, structured and designed so that the student acquires knowledge about typography, framed with the different historical, social, economic and cultural moments. Conveys the need for knowledge of the history of typography related to the evolution of design and enhances the critical sense of each student. Combination of theoretical skills with projectual practice in the construction of typographic fonts and their applicability.

    - What is Typography? - Relationship of Typography and Communication Design. - Typographical language and terminology. - Letter Anatomy. - Stylistic Classification. - Typographic composition. - Personality and application of different typographic fonts in communication. - Semiotics in typography. - Lettering vs. typography. - The planning of the design. The design of grids and structures. - Creative exploration of typographic composition. - Ergonomic criteria in typeface design. - Concepts of function, form and design. - Notions and application of structure, black-negative space. 
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    - Identify the different types of letters and possible applications; - Use the various types of letters in a creative and appropriate way; - Know the Typography and History of Graphic Design as a discipline and its progress; - Knowledge of the anatomy of the letter; - Stylistic Classification of Fonts (basic model); - Introduction to manual drawing; - Drawing processes from geometric shapes; - Similarities between letters and relations of construction and design of forms; - Apply technical knowledge of vector drawing. - Classify and present the developed alphabet.
