    The Urban Ecology course unit focuses on an approach to the city as a complex ecosystem, integrating natural, built and social systems, from an interdisciplinary perspective that links architecture, urban planning and the environment. The aim is to promote the application of ecological principles to urban spaces, encouraging critical reflection on the city as a living organism, capable of adapting, regenerating and promoting inclusion.

  • ObjectivosObjectives
    The aim is to provide students with conceptual and operational tools that enable them to understand, analyse and intervene in urban areas according to ecological principles, contributing to the understanding of the city as a living organism capable of adapting and regenerating itself. By the end of the course, students should be able to: O1 Understand the fundamentals of urban ecology as applied to architecture and urban planning; O2 Critically analyse the urban environment, considering the different scales of intervention, impacts and urban systems; O3 Apply ecological principles in the development of urban proposals appropriate to the local context.
