Classroom conversation: Canning Centers and Urban Design
"The Construction of the Urban Fabric of Algarve's Canning Centers - From Workers' Housing to Housing Policies" This semester we prepared the activity "Classroom Conversations with... Armando Amaro" which brings us, as a conversation topic, "The Construction of the Urban Fabric of Algarve's Canning Centers - From Workers' Housing to Housing Policies", within the scope of the Urban Design II curricular unit, taught to 3rd-year students of the Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture at ISMAT, with Professor Dr. Cláudia Gaspar.
Armando Amaro is an architect from the University of Évora, attended the postgraduate course: Innovation in Housing at the University of Lisbon, collaborated with several studios, where he was also a project coordinator; currently he works as a construction manager overseeing the construction of several residential buildings on the Alentejo coast.
Thank you, Armando Amaro, for accepting the invitation to these “Classroom Conversations with…” to discuss topics related to urban development and present some case studies of working-class neighborhoods in the Algarve associated with the canning industry as a subject of conversation.
