Fashion Design in the Enhancement of Heritage and Local Identity
ISMAT is hosting the seminar "Fashion Design in the Enhancement of Heritage and Local Identity", which aims to explore the significance of the historic fabrics of Covilhã, a factory town, in cultural and social identity. The research focuses on fabrics produced between the 1940s and 1960s, analysing their presence in garments, their users, and the socio-cultural impact of their production.
This seminar highlights fashion as cultural heritage, reflecting collective memory and the expression of identity over time. The study also seeks to decode the language of garments and their wearers through fabric analysis and historical records.
The event will take place at the ISMAT - Auditorium on 10 April 2025, from 14:30 to 15:30.
