ISMAT Architecture Students Exhibit Drawings by Manuel Gomes da Costa
April 13 to 30, 2026

Local do Evento:
Integrated Master's students explore representation codes and the legacy of Algarve modernism through drawing.
ISMAT presents an exhibition featuring works developed by first-year students of the Integrated Master's in Architecture, within the scope of the Drawing II course. The showcase focuses on the exercise of interpreting and copying works by architect Manuel Gomes da Costa, an iconic figure of modernism in the Algarve, as a fundamental method for understanding layouts and architectural representation codes.
Through this rigorous study, students delved into the technical and aesthetic language of one of the most significant references of regional heritage. The exhibition not only demonstrates the evolution of the future architects' drawing skills but also reinforces the importance of studying local masters to understand the identity and evolution of contemporary architecture.
This work is funded by national funds through the FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., within the framework of the Strategic Project with the references UID/04008: Research Centre in Architecture, Urbanism and Design.
