ISMAT Co-organizes Tell.Me 2026: International Symposium on Biographical Narratives
ISMAT – Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes is part of the organizing committee for Tell.Me 2026 – 3rd International Symposium on Biographical Narratives in Arts, Media, and Society, an international scientific event that will take place entirely online on May 28th and 29th, 2026.
This 3rd edition of Tell.Me adopts an organizational structure distributed across three international hubs: Macau, Portimão (Portugal), and São Paulo (Brazil), reinforcing the symposium's global, intercultural, and transcontinental nature. This configuration allows for the articulation of different cultural, academic, and artistic contexts, promoting a pluralistic approach to biographical narratives at the intersection of arts, media, education, and society.
Tell.Me 2026 is a joint organization by the Doctoral School and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Saint Joseph in Macau, ARTECH International, CICANT, ISMAT – Ensino Lusófona, and the School of Arts and Communication of the University of São Paulo. The symposium also features the collaboration of the UNESCO MIL Alliance and CIAC – University of the Algarve (Portugal).
The symposium focuses on biographical and autobiographical narratives — documentary, artistic, and educational — as fundamental tools for preserving memory, constructing identity, valuing cultural diversity, and fostering critical reflection on contemporary social, political, and technological contexts. Tell.Me 2026 promotes a multi, inter, and transdisciplinary approach, bringing together researchers, artists, teachers, and professionals from various fields.
The Call for Papers and Stories/Artworks is currently open, inviting the submission of scientific and artistic contributions. Academic proposals (including extended abstracts and short papers) and proposals for artistic narratives/works are accepted, including audiovisual formats to be included in a virtual exhibition associated with the symposium.
The deadline for submitting abstracts and artistic proposals is March 23, 2026.
