Neuroarchitecture – Designing Spaces that Heal
27 february 2026
Local do Evento:
The lecture aims to raise students’ awareness of the influence of architectural issues on the brain, emotions, behaviour and people’s well-being
There are no neutral environments; they always influence our cognitive state.
Architecture affects every aspect of our lives; it influences how we function and how we engage with others. It is much more than creating beautiful spaces or setting benchmarks for technical innovation — it is where communities are formed, it is where we change the world! To understand environments, we need to understand people: everything is human behaviour and decision-making.
Neuroscience therefore links human cognition, perception, emotions, feelings and behaviour to measurable outcomes. This is the foundation of Neuroarchitecture!
The lecture is organised in collaboration with the director of the Integrated Master’s in Architecture.
The lecture aims to raise students’ awareness of the influence of architectural issues on the brain, emotions, behaviour and people’s well-being. Instead of thinking only about aesthetics or function, it helps to design spaces that truly enhance the human experience.
The importance of neuroscience in architecture lies in humanising spaces, making them healthier, more efficient and emotionally positive — based on how the brain really works, not only on aesthetic trends.
