Presentation and Discussion of the Book "Dancing with Scars"
October 19, 2026

Local do Evento:
The work of auto-fiction serves as the basis for a debate on trauma, psychopathology, and clinical practice within the Psychology degree.
ISMAT will host a presentation and debate around the book “Dançando com Cicatrizes” (Dancing with Scars), published by Astrolábio Edições, an auto-fictional work centered on the story of Zé Tó, a man shaped by family trauma, childhood abuse, domestic violence, and the search for coping mechanisms.
The narrative weaves past and present to reflect on the intergenerational transmission of suffering, self-sabotage, shame, and the complex art of forgiving without erasing memory.
The event will feature psychologist Agostinho Pereira, who will provide the clinical and psychopathological framework of the work, connecting literary narrative with the understanding of trauma and emotional recovery processes.
Given the relevance of these themes, the event offers a valuable pedagogical opportunity for Psychology students, bridging theoretical concepts with the human, emotional, and relational dimensions of real life.
