Within the scope of the Interpersonal Relations course, 2nd-year students learned firsthand about the support and protection procedures for crime victims.
The 2nd-year students of the Psychology course at ISMAT carried out a study visit to APAV – Portimão Delegation, within the scope of the Interpersonal Relations and Group Dynamics Psychology course.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the work carried out by the institution in supporting victims of crime and violence, as well as the different services provided to the community.
The APAV technical team presented the delegation's operations, the main reception and follow-up procedures for victims, and the challenges associated with psychological, social, and legal intervention in this context.
Relevant topics were addressed, such as:
- Psychological support for victims of domestic violence and other crimes;
- The importance of active listening and humanized intervention;
- Referral and protection procedures for victims;
- Networking between institutions; The psychological impact of trauma and victimization.
For ISMAT students, this activity represented an enriching experience of getting closer to professional reality, promoting the development of interpersonal skills, social sensitivity, and critical awareness regarding the role of Psychology in promoting well-being and protecting victims.
The initiative is part of ISMAT's commitment to providing diversified training experiences and direct contact with reference institutions, reinforcing the link between academic learning and professional practice.
