ISMAT was represented at the Tourism & Management Studies International Conference (TMS Algarve 2025).

ISMAT was represented at the Tourism & Management Studies International Conference (TMS Algarve 2025) with the presentation of two scientific papers that highlight the strategic intersection between Data Science and Tourism Management, two key areas of the institution's educational offerings.

The papers presented by Sílvia Pedro, Director of the Bachelor's Degree in Data Science at ISMAT, result from an interdisciplinary collaboration with Tourism Management professors Miguel Portugal and João Portugal, reinforcing the importance of joint work between scientific areas to respond to real challenges in the tourism sector.

The first study, Revenue Prediction in Luxury Hospitality Using Machine Learning: A Reservation-Based Study, applies Machine Learning models to real data from a luxury hotel in the Algarve, demonstrating how Data Science can support strategic Revenue Management decisions and value creation in luxury tourism.

The second work, Validation of the TPAI Scale: Tourism Profession and Artificial Intelligence, focuses on the validation of a scale to analyze perceptions and attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence among Tourism professionals, contributing to the understanding of the impact of digital transformation on careers and organizations in the sector.

This line of research reflects ISMAT's pedagogical and scientific approach, where the articulation between data, technology, and management is assumed as central. A clear example is the Tourism Analytics course unit, integrated into the Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, which materializes this connection by applying data analysis and Artificial Intelligence to concrete tourism problems.
