First-year students are encouraged to develop short editorials, a project aimed at stimulating new ways of conceiving an editorial.
The second semester has already begun and, with it, new challenges arise for the students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Design at Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT). As part of the institution’s pedagogical approach, first-year students are encouraged during the second semester to develop short editorials, a project intended to foster new ways of conceiving editorials and to combine digital and analogue reproduction techniques.
To enrich this academic experience, alumna Dora Jacinto was invited to participate. As a student, following her internship project, she was invited to join the team at the agency “A Cantina”, based in England and with a branch in Portimão, under the responsibility of designer João Mota.
During this visit to the university, Dora had the opportunity to share her experiences as a designer, as she works primarily in the field of editorial design. In an informal conversation with the new students, the alumna shared the challenges she has faced in this professional area, offering advice and inspiring those who are just beginning their academic journey.
This type of initiative reinforces the importance of intergenerational contact between designers, promoting a more realistic and motivating perspective on the job market. Now, we await the end of the semester to discover the proposals and creative outcomes that the current students will present. In due course, further news about the projects developed will be shared.
