Fashion Design faculty support students in creating surrealist accessories from recycled materials for their final runway show.

The lecturers of the Bachelor's Degree in Fashion and Textile Design and Production, Dr. Liliana Pina, Dr. Paulo Martins, Master Gisele Nepomuceno and Master Clara Pache, led the workshop "Fashion Accessories" at the Engenheiro Nuno Mergulhão Basic School in Portimão.

The initiative's main objective was the creation of fashion accessories to complement the outfits developed by the students in the Arts subject, integrating the semester's closing fashion show.

The activity was part of the school's interdisciplinary project, which articulates knowledge acquired in different curricular units and which, this year, had as its guiding theme Surrealism and its artists, encouraging students to explore new creative and expressive approaches.

The accessories were designed from recycled materials and textile waste, promoting sustainable practices and the reuse of materials, through the transformation of existing products into new creative proposals.

This approach allowed students to develop technical and creative skills associated with fashion design and reinforced the importance of sustainability in the contemporary creative process.

The workshop began with a presentation on the relationship between fashion and art, highlighting the relevance of visual and cultural references in the development of the creative process.

The collaborative dimension of the work was also valued, as the projects were developed in groups, encouraging the sharing of ideas, cooperation and the collective construction of creative solutions.

The result of the work will be presented at the school's end-of-year fashion show, highlighting the commitment, creativity and skills developed by the students throughout the project.

The organization thanks the teaching staff of the Engenheiro Nuno Mergulhão Basic School for the invitation to participate in this initiative.
