Professor David Palma led speculative design workshops and shared his professional journey at Izmir University of Economics.
Professor David Palma, from the Communication Design programme, visited the Department of Design at the Izmir University of Economics in March as part of the Erasmus+ programme. During this mobility, he had the opportunity to conduct a workshop on speculative design with the Master’s students in Design.
The activity invited students to develop hypothetical future scenarios with the aim of generating dialogue, reflection, and critical analysis about emerging issues in the relationship between society, technology, and the future.
At the end of the session, a debate around the proposed futures allowed the different group proposals to be analysed, opening space for multiple interpretations and possible scenarios.
During this visit, Professor David Palma also delivered a talk entitled Married to Design, in which he openly reflected on his personal and professional relationship with design, sharing some of the experiences, challenges, and adventures that have shaped his journey.
Although brief, the visit was intense and further strengthened the collaboration that the Communication Design programme of the Department of Architecture, Arts and Design at ISMAT has been developing with the Department of Design at the Izmir University of Economics.
