Organized by the Master's in Visual Arts Teaching, the “Cartography(s) of the senses” initiative explored the relationship between body, memory, and art.
ISMAT, through the students of the Master's degree in Visual Arts Teaching in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education, promoted the workshop “Cartography(s) of the senses”.
Held on May 30th, 2026, the pedagogical and artistic initiative was developed within the scope of the Artistic Expression Workshop I and II curricular unit.
The event was coordinated by Professor Eduarda Coutinho, PhD, and supported in its approval by Professors Jane Machado, PhD, and Anderson Souza, PhD.
The activity proposed an interchangeable approach that understands the body as a territory of perception and memory, challenging participants to create "sensitive maps" based on the five senses.
The workshop was structured into three distinct practical moments:
- the first, focused on the experimental technique of gelli plate printing and image transfer;
- the second, dedicated to creating eco-friendly paints from plant and natural pigments;
- and the third, focused on large-format drawing through the body in motion to the sound of music and poetry.
The initiative brought together 21 participants and an organizing team of 24 members, consolidating artistic expression skills and creative sharing within the academic community.
