Professor Miguel Nuno Portugal presented and discussed a study he authored on the retention intentions of workers in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Professor Miguel Nuno Portugal is a professor at ISMAT and a researcher at the Center for Research, Development, and Innovation in Tourism (CiTUR). He participated as a keynote speaker at an international seminar organized by REDEGETUR, the Ibero-American Network for Tourism Economics and Management, an academic network of the National University of La Plata and the University of the Republic of Uruguay.
The session’s theme was “Should I stay or should I go: Should I continue working in the tourism and hospitality sector?”, based on the study of the constructs Perceived Employability, Overqualification, Overall Career Satisfaction, Compensation, and Work-Family Balance.
The seminar provided an opportunity to discuss current results, trends, and challenges associated with talent retention and reducing staff turnover in the tourism sector.
