David Palma's article explores students' critical thinking when faced with the challenges of circular design and sustainability.
On July 9th, David Palma, a professor in ISMAT's Design course, presented the paper “Sustaining the Future with Speculative Proposals in Design Training” at EIMAD 2026 - 10th International Meeting of Research in Music, Arts and Design, held in Castelo Branco.
The article, co-authored with Pedro Gonçalves and Professor Marco Neves, intersects the field of speculative design with design education, exploring how speculative proposals can contribute to expanding students' critical thinking when facing current challenges related to circular design, sustainability, and the construction of alternative futures.
This participation is part of professor David Palma's doctoral research journey at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, focusing on speculative design and its application in educational and project contexts.
