Américo Mateus, professor and researcher at ISMAT in the areas of Design, Master's in Design for Circular Economy, and Biodesign, will participate in the final conference of the European project ScienceUs, scheduled for November 25, 2026, in Athens, Greece.
The researcher is part of the Advisory Board for this European initiative dedicated to the development and expansion of Citizen Science, promoting citizen and community involvement in co-creation processes and climate change adaptation.
The conference “From Local Action to European Impact: The ScienceUs-CROPS Journey in Citizen Science Upscaling” will gather researchers, policymakers, and experts from across Europe to discuss the integration of Citizen Science into public policies and the sustainability of local projects.
This participation reinforces ISMAT's international recognition and aligns with the work developed at CITAI-FABXR — Innovation and Knowledge Transfer Center, bringing together higher education, design, and emerging technologies to meet the Algarve's sustainable transformation needs.
