October 7, 2026

The GRID/GRID project, developed by Rodrigo Camilo and Tudor-Ioan Prelipcean for the Maria Droste area in Lisbon, received an Honorable Mention from the C40 Cities network.
Students from ISMAT's Integrated Master's in Architecture, Rodrigo Miguel Borges Teodósio Camilo and Tudor-Ioan Prelipcean (on Erasmus mobility), won an Honorable Mention in the prestigious international competition Students Reinventing Cities 2025–26, organized by the global network C40 Cities.
The awarded proposal, titled GRID/GRID, was developed for the Maria Droste area in Lisbon within the scope of the Project 07 and History of the City course units, under the supervision of professors Nadir Bonaccorso and Vitor Alves.
The international challenge invited participants to redesign an area of approximately 62,500 m² located between Carnide, Lumiar, and São Domingos de Benfica, seeking innovative solutions to integrate housing, ecology, sustainable mobility, and public space.
Among the numerous proposals submitted worldwide for that site, the jury selected the ISMAT students' project for one of the two Honorable Mentions awarded. The recognition celebrates student talent and reinforces the institute's capacity to design the future of cities while responding to climate change and social inclusion challenges.
