Communication Design students reimagined the Quinta Pedagógica with a focus on sustainability, innovation, and positive community impact
On January 11th, the Quinta Pedagógica of Portimão Municipality hosted an innovative and interactive activity, promoted by the students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Design at ISMAT. The goal? To reimagine the farm through design, integrating concepts of sustainability, nature preservation, and innovation in the services offered.
The initiative, developed within the framework of the Curricular Units of Process Design and Strategic Business Design, was guided by professors Américo Mateus and Susana Leonor. The students were challenged to create and implement design processes that explored an integrated vision, focused on the real needs of organization and innovation, strengthening the transformative role of design in society.
During this creative journey, children, parents, and staff from the Quinta Pedagógica actively participated in collaborative dynamics. In a relaxed environment, principles of design and critical thinking were explored to design the future of the farm, promoting a participatory experience that valued the creativity of all involved.
Activities like this are an example of ISMAT’s commitment to bringing practice into the classroom and engaging students in real projects. These challenges not only contribute to the training of more conscious and prepared professionals but also positively impact the local community, uniting innovation, sustainability, and education.
