Mental Health in Higher Education: Knowledge, Prevention and Intervention

Mental health within the academic community is an unavoidable topic in higher education institutions today. Clarifying, demystifying, reflecting on, and developing actions that promote mental health in the academic community are some of the objectives of the Solver ATE Project, which ISMAT is part of.

The Solver ATE Project, funded by the Mental Health Promotion Program in Higher Education of the Directorate-General for Higher Education, aims to promote the psychological health and well-being of students, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as workers and collaborators. Its main objectives include the development and evaluation of psychological health literacy, well-being, and students’ academic engagement, as well as the implementation of measures that promote psychological health, strengthen well-being, encourage academic engagement, and prevent school dropout.

Within the scope of this project, on November 19, Prof. Dr. Fábio Botelho Guedes (SPIC Lisbon) gave a brief presentation of the results of a study carried out in an academic context at institutions of the Lusófona group, followed by a debate led by Professors Dr. Ana Martins and Dr. André Tavares Rodrigues, ISMAT representatives in the Solver ATE Project.
