The J-ANT founder presented the "upcycled luxury" concept and launched a creative challenge for Fashion Design students.

On April 16, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., a talk dedicated to the world of sustainable fashion took place in the ISMAT auditorium, featuring designer Jéssica António, founder of the J-ANT brand.

During the session, Jéssica António presented her brand’s concept and identity, which is rooted in slow fashion, with a focus on textile development using traditional techniques. Among these, embroidery, smocking, and silk screen printing stand out—artisanal practices that the designer values and reinvents through a contemporary approach and innovative aesthetic. J-ANT also distinguishes itself through its commitment to upcycled luxury, creating unique pieces, handmade in Portugal, that combine sustainability, quality, and exclusivity.

Throughout the talk, the designer shared her personal and professional journey, offering an inspiring testimony to the students of ISMAT’s Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion and Textile Design and Production. Her experience highlighted the challenges and opportunities in the sustainable fashion sector, encouraging students to explore creative and conscious approaches.

One of the most memorable moments of the session was the presentation of several pieces from the brand, including a technically complex coat featuring multiple textile applications. This piece, from the designer’s personal collection, captured the audience’s attention with its rich details and meticulous craftsmanship.

The initiative concluded with the launch of an exclusive challenge for students in the program, in the form of an internal competition. This initiative aims to stimulate creativity and encourage students to step outside their comfort zone by exploring new artistic languages and concepts inspired by the work and artistic vision of Jéssica António.

The organization of this talk reinforces ISMAT’s commitment to fostering direct contact between students and professionals in the field, contributing to a more enriching, up-to-date education that is aligned with market demands.
