JURISMAT
ISMAT's Legal Magazine
JURISMAT has been published in two different editions since 2012.
ISMAT's Legal Journal brought together, especially in its first edition, between 2012 and 2015 (eight issues published in three years), the publication of scientific articles authored by leading specialists from all the national law faculties, Portuguese and many foreigners (from Spain, Brazil, Morocco, Italy and Mexico). JURISMAT has also earned accreditation in an international catalogue (Latindex). It met fifty of the fifty-five criteria required. It will continue to do so.
First and foremost, the journal publishes articles by lecturers on the Institute's law programme. This is a requirement of the Institute's newly-appointed Board of Directors and one of the Journal's fundamental missions.
During its first edition, it also included a section dedicated to the publication of articles by law students, specially scrutinised by the Journal's Scientific Committee, in accordance with its own
regulations. This editorial option will be reissued.
The Journal's Scientific Committee has also been renewed. It brings together recognised experts from Portuguese higher education institutions and courts and from leading foreign universities. They will once again guarantee the blind peer-review, which will select the articles to be published.
We are convinced that this new third edition of the Journal will allow us to recover, renew and improve the tradition of quality that has already made JURISMAT a benchmark.
JURISMAT follows clear editorial rules. The selection of texts is the responsibility of the Editorial Board, which carries out a first reading of all the proposals and decides whether to pass them on to external scientific evaluation, on a double anonymity basis, carried out by specialists in the subjects covered, in accordance with the criteria usually used in scientific journals with international circulation. All decisions taken on the proposals received are communicated to the authors. Acceptance of a text for publication implies the transfer of copyright to the journal's owner, ISMAT. Authors will be given the opportunity to revise a proof, which must be returned to the journal's editorial office within 10 days. Each author will be given a printed copy of the journal containing their text, as well as a digital reprint.
