Drawing I

Communication Design
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
The subject of Drawing I assumes itself as a tool of thought allowing the student to investigate, understand, interpret, organize and retain knowledge about reality. It allows analyzing sensory experiences using the expression and visualization of mental ideas to represent what surrounds us. It also gives access to understanding about yourself and your relationship with the world.  In this way, Drawing I is an indispensable tool for the investigation and development of projects in all areas of visual communication.
  • ProgramaProgramme
PC1 – Drawing as visual thinking Understanding drawing as a cognitive tool, a means of exploration, and an expressive outcome. Identifying forms, scales, functions, and their sensory dimensions.   PC2 – Materials and techniques Exploring form, texture, density, transparency as expressive resources.   PC3 – Learning to see Developing critical visual perception. Relating brain hemispheres and visual thought. Applying concepts: figure-ground, positive-negative, and proportion.   PC4 – Visual grammar Studying the fundamentals of visual language. Exploring the expressiveness of the line in representation.   PC5 – Surface and texture Observing visual/tactile data. Representing textures and evaluating their expressiveness.   PC6 – Structure and pattern Creating modular patterns with rhythm, symmetry, and regularity.   PC7 – Space and composition Representing depth, movement, and visual weight in compositions.   PC8 – Color Understanding color and applying contrasts, harmonies, and visual palettes.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
At the end of this course unit, the student should be able to: O1 – Understand Drawing as an essential tool for visual thinking, research, and communication.   O2 – Explore and represent reality, develop critical perception, and interpret sensory experiences.   O3 – Use methodologies of self-knowledge and world comprehension, articulating perception and representation.   O4 – Explore line, color, texture, space, and composition as expressive and analytical tools.   O5 – Study geometric and organic forms, figure-ground, proportion, and visual patterns.   O6 – Experiment with materials, supports, and techniques, valuing experimental drawing as a creative method.   O7 – Develop graphic synthesis and the ability to generate abstract ideas, essential in visual communication and design projects.
