    To study the major epistemological traditions in the context of their application to Psychology. The unit Epistemology of the Human Sciences allows: Developing critical thinking; Understanding the processes of formation and autonomization of a discipline, of science in general, and of Psychology, as a science, in particular; Explaining the diversity of the main systems in Psychology.

    What is the Epistemology of the Human Sciences? Background and today's perspective. The fundamental concepts and main epistemological questions. Human Sciences: constraints and obstacles Scientific knowledge and knowledge Knowledge and perception. Explanation and scientific law. Values reality and Truth: the problem of objectivity in the Human Sciences. Determinism and causality. The scientific paradigm, the hypothesis and the paradigm in Psychology Theorization Passion thinking, scientific thinking and child thinking. The mind / body problem and the problem of consciousness. Methodological issues: - Methodological individualism - Functional analysis - The hermeneutic approach Epistemology problems: - Research as a social practice - A discontinuity. Relativism Psychological epistemology The individual. Individual and personality. Awareness and behavior. The use of questionnaires.

    - To study the main current epistemological questions and debates. - Examine the theoretical constructions, the formation of concepts and the elaboration of demonstrations. - Analyze and confront the main epistemological ideas. - Examine the question about the status of epistemology: dependence or autonomy? Skills to develop: - Acquire the basics of epistemology. - Identify the important moments of the discipline's historical evolution. - An introduction to epistemological research. - Acquire the ability to clearly present the main ideas and epistemological debates studied. - Assimilate the main methodological issues specific to each science in general and psychology in particular.
