ApresentaçãoPresentationThe value of data is now recognized in the most varied areas of application, being increasingly in support of decision making. This Curricular Unit starts by introducing the introductory concepts of Statistics, followed by the presentation of various types of tables, graphs and descriptive measures that can be used to organize and characterize the data. It is also analyzed, graphically and analytically, the correlation between quantitative variables and simple linear regression models are developed. The use of R software for data analysis is introduced in this UC.

MetodologiaMethodologyThe teaching methodology includes the expository method (TM1) to present the contents, the demonstrative method (TM2) to illustrate its application to practical cases and the active method (TM3) to solve classroom exercises, with and without the use of a computer. Real datasets and statistical software are used to promote the critical interpretation of results and the practical application of the concepts.
