Project VI

Architecture
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
Project VI focuses on design methodologies, considering the different phases of the project: analysis of the existing situation and surroundings (pre-existence/context); ability to propose an appropriate programme; development of a proposal (architectural conception) at basic project level; and execution project - basic principles (construction details). The motto for the 3rd year is based on the theme -Flexibility and Ecology- considering the constant changes and dynamics in the current way of life and the individual's adaptations to the space around them, typical of contemporary cities. The exercises to be developed during the school year are based on different urban contexts in Portimão (areas: historical; housing; riverside) and different programmes (multifunctional module; collective housing; cultural equipment), which allows different scales, typologies and contexts to be worked on. In PVI is developed; Cultural Equipment; and Visual Glossary by Nuno Teotónio Pereira.
  • ProgramaProgramme
The proposed exercise 02 consists of drawing up a project for a Cultural Equipment building on the site worked on and developed in the previous semester, thus completing the notion of a neighbourhood and a specific programme to be defined according to each student's analysis. The projects are developed using different scales: Urban Design; Base Project and Detail Project. Exercise 01 - Nuno Teotónio Pereira Visual Glossary - is part of the commemoration of the architect's centenary and consists of making a glossary in the class around the architectural elements of the architect's works. As the Nuno Teotónio Pereira Glossary - Exercise 01 is a continuous work exercise, interspersed with the Project - Exercise 02, it is important that the project to be developed - The cultural equipment building in Portimão - takes into account the premises of the work and the way of designing of the architect Nuno Teotónio Pereira himself.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
Learning objectives are: Develop the ability to design in different contexts, with different programs and at different scales of intervention. Ability to read and critically analyze an urban space, in order to test the responsiveness to the project's stimuli. Buildings in extension, tall buildings and their urban environment. Understand the importance of the role of architecture in society in the various spectrum: social, economic, cultural, environmental and in the quality of life of citizens, both in the context of inhabiting the private space, as well as in the context of inhabiting the public or collective space. Ability to develop a building program for public use. Understand the capacity of architecture to function as a regenerating element of the urban fabric and to solve problems in society and the city. Understanding the intimate relationship between the design of the model and the design of the detail. Initial practical notions of execution project.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
Preparation of a project (study and project) that dictates the approach to the theoretical themes of the UC, organized in 3 phases: 1_Surround analysis, program definition, basic concept and initial proposal (Sketches; Study diagrams; Organizational chart; In situ survey; model of the surroundings; definition of the concept); 2_Study and evolution of the proposal/Preliminary Study (Drawings/Proposal sketches; reference; study model); 3_Project and final elements (Technical drawings - implementation plan, plans, sections, elevations, section and construction details, perspectives/axonometrics, span map, etc.; Model; Descriptive memory; Drawing book) The glossary allows students to create and maintain a dictionary-like list of terms and definitions. Content can be visible to everyone on the platform. Glossaries are useful for creating: a reference resource with best practices on a subject in the discipline; sharing area; Set of concepts to be reviewed and remembered.
