    The curricular research methodologies unit is core in a third cycle course. Guidance on the philosophy of science is given with the main objective of igniting the mental process and critical thinking necessary for the execution of a research work or thesis project that is basically the culmination of attending a master's degree. This CU is part of the set of basic curricular units, covering the main areas of knowledge considered fundamental for the construction of the desired profile at the master's level.

Science and Scientificity Criteria; Formulation of problems/hypotheses; Identification, classification and operationalization of variables; Collection of information: Instruments and procedures. S4 - Investigation Result - Scientific dissemination and peer dialogue. Research in the national and international context Balance and perspective of knowledge production. S5 - Research Methodologies in Design: Research methods and techniques of social sciences in design, Design Science Research, Norms Applied to Research in Design
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    At the end of this unit the student should be able to: O1 - Use methodological tools that allow carrying out a scientific investigation, selecting the problem and adapting appropriate models and techniques; O2 - Understand the main steps of scientific research; O3 - Analyze the theoretical-methodological framework of your area of interest; O4 - To problematize important distinctions between concepts and categories, as tools of scientific research; O5 - Explain the role of research theory, methodologies and technique; O6 - Situating recurring debates from the research experience, identifying a problem and formulating research questions; O7 - Compose and submit representative documents of your investigation, such as articles and technical and progress reports. O8 - Develop scientific rigor in research.
