    Seminários II, through students' participation in research seminars - featuring project presentations by invited researchers - prepares students for different dimensions of research, fostering their autonomy and ability to undertake the dissertation. Seminários II collaborates with CITAI_DATA - Centre for Applied Intelligence and the Polo CIAUD _ Lusófona e ISMAT, through the joint delivery of the Research Seminars in Architecture and Territory.

    S1: Research culture and practices in architecture Fundamental concepts of research in architecture Types of dissertation and research approaches S2: Research seminars Presentation of research projects by invited speakers Discussion of research methodologies, processes and outcomes S3: Active listening and public discussion Strategies for critical listening Academic debate and question formulation S4: Critical reading and writing Structure and aims of research texts/reports Exercises in summarising, analysing and evaluating scientific presentations/scientific texts CP5: Reporting and monitoring dissertation processes Presentation and discussion of research pathways by invited speakers Identification of difficulties, strategies and good practices in dissertation development CP6: Integration into the student's own dissertation plan Transfer of acquired knowledge into the dissertation plan Reformulation and clarification of the dissertation's aims, methodology and structure
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    Students should be able to: O1: Develop independence in the architectural research process. O2: Listen to and critically understand oral presentations of research projects and architecture dissertations. O3: Engage in informed public discussion, identifying key arguments, methods and results. O4: Write texts and reports that demonstrate the ability to synthesise, analyse and critically evaluate. O5: Integrate the knowledge acquired in the seminars into the structuring, clarification and reformulation of their own architecture dissertation project.
