ApresentaçãoPresentationThe course unit Theories and Practices of Contemporary Art combines history, critical theory and artistic experimentation to develop analytical, creative and pedagogical competences in Visual Arts. It explores key transformations from the 20th-century avant-gardes to contemporary practices, focusing on the relationship between art, society and visual culture. Students develop critical approaches to artworks and institutional contexts, linking theoretical frameworks with experimental practices across diverse media and languages. The course includes a pedagogical dimension centred on the creation of artistic-educational materials and the planning of learning activities. Through active methodologies, collaborative work and engagement with cultural institutions, it encourages reflection on the role of the teacher as creator and cultural mediator, preparing students for innovative and critical practice.
