How can cities adapt to the pressing social, environmental, and economic realities?
The exhibition Habitar Lagoa 2030 offers a space for reflection on how we inhabit and transform the territory.
The opening will take place on Thursday, 30 October, at the Convento de São José in Lagoa, showcasing the work developed by students of the Integrated Master’s in Architecture at ISMAT – Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes, within the curricular units of Urban Design II and Urban Ecology, during the 2024/2025 academic year.
The projects stem from a continuous process of research and experimentation on the territory of Lagoa, aiming to understand the relationships between modes of inhabiting, social and economic dynamics, and the ecological systems that shape the municipality.
More than an exhibition of results, Habitar Lagoa 2030 positions itself as an open space for reflection and dialogue, where students, lecturers, and visitors are invited to think — and to design — new ways of inhabiting and regenerating the territory.
The event will be accompanied by a roundtable discussion featuring Maria João Rodrigues (Executive Coordinator of Cidades pelo Clim), Sofia Pires Bento (Coordinator of the Active Mobility Project Group), and Jorge G. Coelho (Senior Smart Cities Advisor), dedicated to discussing how cities can adapt to contemporary realities and the role of academic research in shaping a more informed and participatory urban future.
