Design Studio Challenge: Creativity and Innovation in the Spotlight at ISMAT

Objetivos de Desenvoltimento Sustentável (ODS)

Second edition of the challenge promotes technical skills and collaboration among Communication Design students

Last March, ISMAT – Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes hosted the 2nd edition of the Design Studio Challenge, a pedagogical initiative that reinforces the institution’s commitment to promoting practical, innovative, and high-quality education in the field of Communication Design.

Throughout an intensive week, students from different years of the Communication Design course formed multidisciplinary teams and were challenged to develop creative proposals for real-life briefs, as part of the Open Briefs promoted by the Clube de Criativos de Portugal. Under the guidance of designer Marko Rosalline, founder of the agency Deadinbeirute, the initiative gained a professional and international outlook, bringing students closer to the realities of the creative market.

The Design Studio Challenge aimed to stimulate critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration — essential skills for design professionals. Through a demanding process of research, conceptualisation, and presentation of solutions, students demonstrated not only their technical talent but also resilience, adaptability, and team spirit.

Now, all eyes are on the outcome: will any of the projects stand out and win recognition from the Clube de Criativos jury? Regardless of the result, the Design Studio Challenge showcased the potential of a new generation of designers ready to innovate and transform the future of visual communication.
